The consensus pound-for-pound greatest every boxer, Sugar Ray Robinson - a world champion in the welterweight and middleweight divisions - appears to be the inspiration for Chelsea star David Luiz ahead of the club's Champions League quarterfinal clash against Paris Saint Germain.
The Blues must overturn a 3-1 deficit carried over from the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week - a tough ask considering the free-scoring nature of the Ligue 1 side.
Posting on his Instagram account, Luiz quoted Sugar Ray: "To be Champ, you have to believe in yourself when nobody else will."
Robinson's legend continues to live on despite concluding his 200-professional fight career in 1965 and dying in 1989, aged 67. Sugar Ray was renowned for his undefeated streak as an amateur, for his defiance of the mafia, for his six-fight series with Jake LaMotta and for inspiring the fighting style of Cassius Clay, later Muhammad Ali.
Luiz, playing to Chelsea's underdog status against PSG this evening, said: "Never give up!"
