Manchester United and William Carvalho are now officially the will-they-won’t-they story of the transfer window.
After reportedly scouting the Sporting Lisbon midfielder upwards of 15 times already this season, David Moyes must surely know all there is to know about the 22-year-old Portuguese international with the €45million release-clause.
As if watching him in action was not enough for United’s staff, they would also be wise to note that William has now been crowned the Primeira Liga’s Player of the Month for March, beating Benfica pair Rodrigo and Lima to the prize.
But that is not the story; the real headline fact is that this is William’s fourth such award this season. Yes, the player many are tipping to solve United’s midfield problems single-handedly was also named Player of the Month for October, November and December as reported by A Bola.
If that was not proof enough that Moyes should make his move then we are not sure what is. William has starred time and again for Sporting, adding goals to his already impressive game. And it is clear to any and all who have watched him play that he is destined for the top of the sport.
While €45million is a lot of money to spend on one player, some such players are worth it. And William is one, when you consider how good he is set to become and the immediate and long-term impact he would have at Old Trafford.
And if United get their man, expect him to soon be collecting Player of the Month awards in England just as he has been doing with such regularity in Portugal.
