Tottenham are reportedly set to axe Tim Sherwood at the end of the season.
Tim Sherwood's time in charge at Tottenham Hotspur will come to an abrupt end when the season finishes, report SkySports.
The head coach was placed in charge for 18 months when he took over from Andre Villas-Boas but commented himself that if he failed to secure a Champions League spot then he may not be in charge next season.
There has been no official statement from Tottenham themselves on the matter, but SkySports were adamant in their story this afternoon titled 'Tim Sherwood to be relieved of managerial duties at Tottenham this summer'
The reported: "Sky sources understand that Tim Sherwood will be replaced as manager of Tottenham Hotspur this summer."
Sherwood himself only said when quizzed: "I can't say much right now. What I can say is tonight is business as usual.
"I'm setting this team up to win a football match for the benefit of the club and the 35,000 Spurs fans who will come and watch. I'll speak at a later stage."
The manager has come under increased criticism of late for appearing tactically naive, and taking out his anger publicly on his players, while 4-0 defeats to Chelsea and Liverpool have not helped his cause.
The decision is likely to be welcomed by a number of supporters, but pressure increases on chairman Daniel Levy to get the next appointment right after firing Harry Redknapp and Andre Villas-Boas.
Louis van Gaal, currently the Holland manager, is the bookies favourite, but he is also said to be holding back in case Manchester United make a decision to sack David Moyes.
Here is what supporters had to say on Twitter regarding the reports ahead of tonight's game with Sunderland:
Sherwood going annoys me. At least let him deal in the summer, get rid of dead wood and evaluate after first 10 games of next season! #THFC— Cal Gaunt (@GAUNTCP) April 7, 2014
Tim Sherwood was never going to last the summer after the hidings vs Chelsea & Liverpool. But timing of the news is pretty daft #THFC— Adam Gray (@AdamGray1250) April 7, 2014
Glad Sherwood will be gone in the Summer, but surely a bit of a stupid move by Levy to announce it now before the season has finished? #thfc— just dan (@DanGeorge94) April 7, 2014
Sherwood set to leave spurs has my day, I can love my club again! #COYS— Stefan Blois (@stefanblois) April 7, 2014
If we split with Sherwood in the Summer, do we get custody of Bentaleb? #COYS— Tim Grigg (@timgrigg76) April 7, 2014
Off to WHL soon. Can't wait for this season to end! One positive being that Sherwood only has 6 games left in charge. #COYS— Dominic Loosemore (@Francis_Dom) April 7, 2014
