Manchester United striker Robin van Persie made headlines over the weekend when he was photographed with Louis van Gaal. But he also spent time with another of his countrymen, in the form of ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
The two men would know each other well from their time playing together in the Dutch national team, and as the striker continues his recovery from a knee injury it seems he is catching up with some old pals, posting a picture on his official Instagram account on Monday afternoon.
United boss David Moyes recently said that van Persie was making good progress from his injury and was expected to be back soon. But in truth his club have been impressing without him, and should they make it past Bayern Munich in the Champions League - and following an impressive display from the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Juan Mata on Saturday - it will be interesting to see if the Dutchman walks straight back into the starting XI when fit or if he has to bide his time.
Van der Sar is regarded as one of United's greatest ever goalkeepers, but after a stuttering start the man chosen to replace him - David de Gea - has grown into one of the most impressive young stoppers in Europe.
