Chelsea’s partnership and relationship with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem has been widely debated and criticised in some sections of the football world but it’s an association which is allowed the club’s loan stars to prosper.
Two Chelsea men were involved in Vitesse’s 1-1 draw against Ajax yesterday with Bertrand Traore opening the scoring in the 25th minute and Christian Atsu achieving a stat that no senior Chelsea player has managed this season.
Atsu produced five shots on target, which was a 100% accuracy rate from five shots, something which will please Jose Mourinho when he reads into reports over his players at different clubs from the weekend.
|Player||Match||Matchday||Club||Pos||Ontarget Scoring Att||Mins|
|Eden Hazard||Sunderland vs Chelsea||14||Chelsea||MF||4||90|
|Eden Hazard||Chelsea vs Newcastle||25||Chelsea||MF||4||85|
|Frank Lampard||West Ham vs Chelsea||12||Chelsea||MF||4||90|
|Frank Lampard||Chelsea vs Hull||01||Chelsea||MF||4||90|
The two players who get closest to Atsu in this respect, based on the Premier League stats from the season, are Eden Hazard and Frank Lampard, who have both produced four shots on target twice during the season.
Vitesse remain well in the hunt for a Champions League spot by the end of the season as Chelsea’s loan stars continue to do everything asked of them away from their parent club.
Atsu is giving himself every chance of returning to the club ahead of next season and being involved in the first team down either wing, which would allow Mourinho to move players like Hazard and Andre Schurrle to play more regularly in central roles.
