Bob Diamond’s African banking venture, Atlas Mara, has agreed a deal to acquire the commercial arm of Rwanda’s state controlled bank.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the agreement comes less than a week after the London-listed cash shell announced a deal to buy a major stake in Botswana-based Banc ABC for $265m.
The former Barclays boss signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday in Rwanda on the 20th anniversary of the country’s genocide.
Billionaire Ashish Thakkar, who co-founded London-listed Atlas Mara, was forced to flee from the genocide to Kenya as a child.
