Manchester United secured one of the best results of their season as they demolished Newcastle 4-0 at St James' Park on Saturday.
Key to the victory was £37 million man Juan Mata, who scored two goals and provided one assist.
His importance to the United side has been hailed by teammate Javier Hernandez, who himself netted one and created another.
He told ManUtd.com: "It’s unbelievable. You can see that’s going to be a very important player for this club. He needed to get used to the way that we play and the way the manager wants us to play.
"In the past games, he did alright but the goal he scored against Aston Villa gave him a lot of confidence and you can see what he is capable of, with assists, with free-kicks and to score goals so he’s a very important, clever player."
Unfortunately for United, Mata is cup-tied for the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich and the Red Devils will have to make do without him.
Shinji Kagawa's performance however hinted that he could just be the perfect player to come in and replace him, if given the opportunity.
Wayne Rooney is also hoping to return to fitness, but Kagawa's display alongside Mata was hugely encouraging, making three key passes and recording a 89 per cent pass accuracy.
Mata certainly underwhelmed for United in big games against Manchester City and Liverpool, illustrating he still has to adjust to the squad, and manager David Moyes has himself to try and find the best way to utilise him.
The big win at Newcastle was encouraging that they are getting it right, the challenge will be to find a way to continue to do so when Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are also fit to start.
