Everton thrashed Arsenal this afternoon - even though the best laid plans of Roberto Martinez did not come to fruition early on.
Leon Osman went in hard on Bacary Sagna early on, before having to depart immediately after the clash to receive stitches to an eye injury.
But Martinez certainly has decent back up at his disposal.
He brought on the 20-year-old phenomenon Ross Barkley in his place and of course the player had a sensational game.
His performance was exemplary of everything that went well for the club today against their Champions League chasing rivals - once again highlighting his claim for a place in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
For Roy Hodgson however you feel it is no longer in doubt - and that Barkley will be on the plane.
The question now however is will he start?
One man who is not in England’s plans is Rio Ferdinand.
He retired from international football last May but is clearly excited about the future of this young starlet his current boss once groomed - at least this Tweet would suggest so…
Ross Barkley is asking the England manager many a questions with his performances of late - "are you ready for me" being one of them!!— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) April 6, 2014
