Romelu Lukaku celebrated with Roberto Martinez during the game against Arsenal yesterday.
When Romelu Lukaku scored in the 3-0 win against Arsenal yesterday, his immediate reaction was to sprint over to Everton boss Roberto Martinez and embrace the Spaniard.
Martinez has made no attempt to hide the fact that he wants the Belgian forward to lead Everton’s attack on a permanent basis, hopefully with Champions League football for next season.
The youngster has been strongly linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer with Jose Mourinho reportedly open to the idea of him leaving with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as one of the favourites for his signature.
However, the embrace that Lukaku and Martinez shared shows a respect, a friendship and an understanding of each other which could hint at Everton being the favourites if any permanent move away from Chelsea happens.
There’s also still a good chance that he could stay with Chelsea because for every productive performance he puts in for loan side Everton over the rest of the campaign, he’ll increase his chances of getting a shot with Chelsea next year.
However, a top four finish for Everton, a big name signing for Chelsea and based on this image, it could be a formality for him to stay at Goodison Park indefinitely.
