It should be no surprise that with Liverpool preparing for a huge game against West Ham United on Sunday, and with the Reds set to face Manchester City just a few days later, a transfer story should surface that links a a player from one club with the colours of the other.
And so it is as the Sunday Times claims City are planning a huge bid for Luis Suarez this summer.
Liverpool's managing director Ian Ayre has already had his say on the rumours, while the fact that the Reds are set to secure Champions League football and the Uruguayan has only recently agreed a new long-term deal mean there is little reason for him to leave.
But what do the fans make of it all? We wanted to gauge the reaction from the Liverpool faithful, who woke up to an unexpected headline on the day they had surely thought all the attention would be on the match at Upton Park this afternoon.
The response to the rumours was expected, with few believing it would actually happen. After all, is another striker really what City need given the fact that they already have Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Negredo and Steven Jovetic?
And with the Reds set to return to Europe's elite next season, why would Suarez swap one English club doing that for another; especially when you consider the progress Brendan Rodgers' side has made in the last 18 months.
But anyway, back to the fans. We took to Twitter to see what they made of it all and we have published a selection of what we found below:
I just heard on Sky Sports News that Manchester City will look to Suarez in the summer. Many have tried, you will fail. We don't need cash!— Nick Mason (@MrNickMason) April 6, 2014
Suarez isn't going to city, he's simply to big of a player to take a step down— joe phelan (@joephelan17) April 6, 2014
