Chelsea have so many players currently on loan their fans would be forgiven for forgetting about one or two of them.
Given the fanfare surrounding the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois and the glut of players currently at Vitesse Arnhem, defender Wallace has slipped into a level of footballing obscurity reserved for those players waiting to make their mark on the game.
While his fellow Chelsea loanees have at least had chances at their temporary clubs, Brazilian Wallace has rarely featured for Inter Milan.
There are high hopes for the 19-year-old right-back, but at the moment he has had limited chances to prove those hopes are justified. And now his agent has been quoted by Forza Italian Football as saying the following in an interview with FCInterNews:
“We do not understand why Wallace is not being used. We are told that he is training very well but he is never given a chance.
“Naturally he will return to Chelsea in July. He has already been informed of the decision and he will be in London for summer training.”
Where Wallace will go thereafter is not yet known, but considering his age and the players ahead of him in the Stamford Bridge pecking-order, he is unlikely to be given many chances under Jose Mourinho for a while yet.
He has previously been tipped for a loan switch to Benfica, and that could be the best option for all parties, provided he gets the game-time he requires. But whatever happens, it appears he has kicked his last ball for Inter.
