Everton Goodison 2

Everton beat Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison Park earlier today.

Those wondering if Everton's charge towards an unlikely Champions League place would falter under the pressure of facing the side they are directly challenging for that honour were answered in emphatic style on Sunday.

Roberto Martinez's side beat Arsenal 3-0 at Goodison Park to go just one point behind the Gunners having played a game less than Arsene Wenger's men.

Strikes from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and an own-goal from Mikel Arteta gave the home side the victory and left the Gunners' season if not in turmoil then certainly unraveling at an alarming rate.

The visitors had the majority of the possession but could do little with it, managing just five shots on target in the entire match.

Next up for the Toffees is an away game against Sunderland, while Arsenal have the not so small matter of a FA Cup semi-final against Wigan Athletic that they will dare not lose.
