Arsenal player ratings v Everton: Only THREE players above 4/10

Here are our player ratings for Arsene Wenger's men this afternoon.

Arsenal fell to another disappointing defeat away at Everton in a result, which now leaves Arsene Wenger’s side under big pressure heading into the FA Cup semi-final against Wigan next weekend.

The Gunners just weren’t at the races for the Premier League clash this afternoon as goals from Steven Naismith, Romelu Lukaku and an own goal from Mikel Arteta were enough to see the Merseyside club over the line.

Here are our player ratings for Wenger’s men.

Wojciech Szczesny 4

The Pole has definitely had better days at the office. He was a little unfortunate that the ball didn’t run his way on a couple of occasions but needed to be more dominant.

Bacary Sagna 4

Seemed to lose interest as his side went further and further behind. Got forward well when he could but he struggled when Everton got numbers out on his side of the defence.

Per Mertesacker 5

The German struggled with the pace and movement across the top of Everton’s attack. His normally spot on positional sense seemed to go missing today.

Thomas Vermaelen 4

Played the ball out nicely from the back but defensively he needed to be a little stronger. Went to sleep for the first goal.

Nacho Monreal 5

Got up and down the left wing well but generally struggled. Didn’t seem to have any idea where Vermaelen was on his side of the defence, which led to some indecision.

Tomas Rosicky 5

Worked hard throughout the game and was one of the only Arsenal players to show emotion and frustration when things weren’t going their way.

Mathieu Flamini 4

Seems a shadow of the player who started the season so effectively. Let his head drop when the match got beyond Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta 4

A poor 90 minutes from one of Arsenal’s most experienced players. Everton won’t have much regret over letting him go based on this performance.

Santi Cazorla 4

Struggled to get into the game. Dropped off into extremely deep positions searching for the ball but was generally ineffective in the number ten role.

Lukas Podolski 4

The German was subbed just after the hour mark after a frustrating game. Seems so eager and passionate to get on the ball and have an impact but he was shut down and nullified today.

Olivier Giroud 4

Not one of his best performances. Took a long time to get into the game and struggled when he did have pockets of possession in dangerous areas.

Aaron Ramsey 4

Decent touches, one of his first touches nearly setup a chance for Giroud. Hard to judge him based on 25 minutes after so long out with injury.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 4

Injected pace and threat into the Arsenal midfield. Didn’t seem to care about the score and just got stuck in, which was refreshing.

Yaya Sanogo N/A

As per Ramsey, hard to judge him when he didn’t have a long time to make a major impact.
