West Ham striker says he predicted 'unbeatable' Liverpool success

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has praised former club Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash.

The Hammers entertain title-chasing Liverpool on Sunday and it is a chance for Andy Carroll to exact some sort of revenge on his former club.

Surprisingly, however, the Geordie has nothing but praise for his former employers and believes Brendan Rodgers and his men have an excellent chance of lifting the Premier League trophy.

The Reds are currently unbeaten in the Premier League in 2014, having picked up 35 points from a possible 39 and scoring 44 goals in the process.

It has simply been a phenomenal run for Liverpool, and one which has seen them overtake Chelsea at the summit.

With just six games remaining, nobody would have predicted Liverpool at this stage of the season to be within six victories of lifting the Premier League crown – or would they?

In an interview reported by The Mirror, Andy Carroll had faith all along that his former club would be crowned champions.

He said: “You know, I said from the beginning of the season that I thought they had a great chance of winning the league. I said that from the beginning! The very start! I said to all the lads that they would win it.”

“All of them were ifing and butting, but I turned around and said it. They will back me up. From the beginning. I just had a feeling.”

Liverpool this season are certainly not goal-shy, and Andy Carroll pinpoints the chemistry between Sturridge and Suarez – dubbed the SAS – as the reason why they appear unbeatable:

"They signed Sturridge who’s a great player as well, and having played with Suarez and knowing what he is like, having those two together, the way they connect together, they are unbelievable. They look unbeatable.”
