For Manchester United supporters, it's very much a case of what might have been if Diego Forlan's advice carried a little more weight.
In a recent interview with fourfourtwo magazine, the 34-year-old, with more than 100 international caps to his name, admitted trying to coax the Premier League's top goalscorer, Luis Suarez, into moving to Manchester United.
'I like how he [Luis Suarez] feels he can turn to me in good and bad moments,' said Forlan.
'Like when Liverpool made him an offer. Of course I told him he should join Manchester United, but I also spoke well of Liverpool and their history.
'I told him how, after I'd scored for Atleti [Atletico Madrid] at Anfield to knock them out of the Europa League, their fans applauded me.'
Looking at the current table, its a decision that Suarez will have little regret about making. Liverpool have been in fantastic form this season, whilst United carry on faltering below the bottom six.
The Uruguayan added: 'He loves playing at Liverpool. He likes the Premier League - and the fans love him because he's a striker's striker.'
Whilst, I'll agree not all fans in England love him, the Liverpool supporters certainly do, despite all the early controversies in his career at Anfield.
And in his current form, you have to say, it's likely he will be the one to fire Liverpool to their first Premier League title.
