Chelsea loan stars go head-to-head, but who came out on top?

Patrick Bamford, Kenneth Omeruo and Nathaniel Chalobah went head-to-head in the North-East this afternoon, with the 'Boro boys very much coming out on top.

Derby County failed to yet again rekindle their once very strong away form, after losing out to Middlesbrough in another tight defeat on the road.

The game, however, included a very strong Chelsea influence with Bamford lining up for the Rams, and Omeruo and Chalobah lining up for the 'Boro.

Omeruo and Chalobah were named as Middlesbrough's best two players by Whoscored, whilst Bamford was rated as one of the worst for Derby County.

Patrick Bamford left the Derby fans frustrated throughout the game and was bemoaned for 'over-playing' instead of keeping things simple. Radio Derby commentator Craig Ramag, was critical of the youngster's tendency for trying to do things too difficult, and his disregard for the simple stuff.

Statistically, it wasn't pretty reading either. The striker hit just two shots in the game, with neither hitting the target. And more shockingly, he attempted seven dribbles, completing just one.

On the other hand, it was a job well done for Nathaniel Chalobah, who hit the winner, and influential defender Kenneth Omeruo.

The former Nottingham Forest loanee, Nathaniel Chalobah, made 46 passes in the game, 3 interceptions and was dispossessed just the once. While Omeruo provided a defensive masterclass, keeping out influential striker Chris Martin, with nine clearances and three interceptions.

In summary, the player who was rated the 15th best player in the Football League failed to live up to expectations, whilst the duo who missed out on the top 50 list were right on top of their game. A fantastic performance by both of 'Boro's loan players.
