Napoli turn attentions to Swansea stopper

Napoli have a number of transfer targets in the Premier League and Swansea defender Ashley Williams has apparently been added to the list.

Napoli technical director Riccardo Bigon has reportedly identified a number of transfer objectives in the Premier League and Swansea defender Ashley Williams may have been added to his shopping list.

It has been a mixed season for Napoli who emerged as Scudetto challengers and impressed in the Champions League before exiting Europe in cruel fashion and dropping off the title pace.

Coach Rafa Benitez and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis have both identified the need to bring in new recruits in the summer if Napoli are to fight for the title next time around.

Napoli have been linked with a large number of Premier League stars over the last few months and director Bigon is said to be pursuing a number of threads.

Liverpool men Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger plus Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen have been identified as possible targets and now Il Mattino believes that Williams is on that list.

The Welsh international is reportedly valued at around £5m and Benitez is said to have been impressed with his performances for Swansea this season and the way he performed against Napoli in Europe.

Napoli knocked Swansea out of the Europa League with a 3-1 win back in February but they needed two goals in the last 12 minutes to do so.
