CONFIRMED: Newcastle United & Manchester United line-ups

St James Park Two

Here is how Newcastle United and Manchester United will line up for this afternoon’s match at St James’ Park:

Newcastle United starting XI: Elliot, Santon, Williamson, Coloccini, Haidara, Anita, Gosling, Tiote, Gouffran, de Jong, Cisse

Subs: Alnwick, Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Dummett, Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi, Armstrong

Manchester United starting XI: Lindegaard, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Evra, Young, Mata, Fletcher, Fellaini, Kagawa, Hernandez

Subs: De Gea, Buttner, Vidic, Cleverley, Nani, Januzaj, Wilson

It will be interesting to see how Manchester United perform in this match – and who features – given that it is between their two biggest matches of the season.

With the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich right around the corner, David Moyes has some decisions to make this afternoon.

In contrast, Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew may just have to pick whoever is available given his current injury problems. Moussa Sissoko has now joined the list of players on the side-lines, while the visitors’ biggest injury problem is the continued absence of Robin van Persie.

The Magpies won at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, courtesy of a player – Yohan Cabaye – who has since departed St James’ Park. But having lost nine of their last 14 league games, Moyes’ men will be quietly confident of coming away with three points this afternoon, especially considering their own impressive away form to date.

What do you think the result will be today?
