The top five players linked with signing for Liverpool this week: Lallana, Rakitic and more

Southampton, Dnipro, Sevilla, Lyon and Nuremberg stars all feature.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers must be praised for creating a Premier League title worthy side on a fraction of the budget spent by the club’s main rivals.

He’ll have to show a similar eye for good value deals this summer as the Reds will need to improve their squad over the summer as they prepare for an assault on the Champions League next season.

Here are the top five players linked with signing for Liverpool this week.

Adam Lallana (Southampton)

Most of the speculation about Lallana this week has been centred around Chelsea but Rodgers’ side have emerged as a potential rival to the Blues when it comes to the England man. He has everything needed to replace Steven Gerrard but the only thing holding any deal back could be the fee, which could nudge the £30 million mark.

Yevhen Konoplyanka (Dnipro)

Speculation was stoked up all over again yesterday when the Ukrainian winger’s agent Tweeted and said he was on his way to Liverpool. The Reds tried to get a deal done at the back end of the last transfer window but couldn’t quite get through the complications in time.

Ivan Rakitic (Sevilla)

Liverpool stand a great chance of snapping up the 25-year-old midfielder, especially if they secure Champions League football. Real Madrid are also believed to be interested in him but Rodgers could arguably offer him more regular first team football at Anfield.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

A player Liverpool have been frequently linked with since it emerged he could potentially leave the Ligue One side. There is competition for him with Arsenal and Juventus from Italy also thought to be interested in him. The Frenchman has refused to rule out a move to Serie A.

Josip Drmic (Nuremberg)

Drmic has the right characteristics to be the sort of player Rodgers could invest in as a talented deputy to SAS next season. He’s rated at around the £8 million mark so the club could afford, with the main competition from the Premier League coming in the form of Arsenal and Everton.
