The top five players linked with signing for Chelsea this week: Martinez, Barkley and more

Atletico Madrid, PSG, FC Porto, Southampton and Everton stars all feature.

Chelsea haven’t had a great past seven days as defeat at Crystal Palace was followed up with a disappointing performance in the first leg of their Champions League game against PSG.

The Blues need a centre forward, which is a position Jose Mourinho has spoken about frequently this season.

Chelsea have the resources to pull off a big deal this summer if they find the right, available target and we’ve created a list of some of the best players they have been linked with signing from the past week.

Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)

Costa’s name is appearing on this list all the time. The £32 million rated forward would be the ideal sort of player to lead Jose Mourinho’s attack and if the interest is accurate, they will be very happy that scans revealed no severe hamstring problem following an injury in the Champions League game against Barcelona.

Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Mourinho was presented with a chance to watch the Uruguayan up close and personally this week during the Champions League game. His role at PSG has forced him to change with Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing through the middle. The Blues could still offer him the chance to lead an attack as the outright striker.

Jackson Martinez (FC Porto)

The Colombian has occasionally been linked with a move to West London and he fits the bill in terms of the sort of forward who could do a serious job in the Chelsea attack. He’s bagged 16 goals in 25 league games for Porto so far this season but if there are hints he could be available, Chelsea won’t be alone in wanting him.

Adam Lallana (Southampton)

One of the standout players from the Premier League this season, Lallana has been talked about as a long term replacement for Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. He’s almost a complete midfielder in an attacking sense with the ability to dig in and defend when needed.

Ross Barkley (Everton)

The Sun claims that Mourinho would consider a player and cash deal to sign the talented English midfielder. He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United with David Moyes likely to spend big this summer after United’s failings this season.
