Today has been a busy one on Twitter for two of the Premier League’s big clubs.
Chelsea spent the entire morning slowly building up the unveiling of their new adidas home kit for next season - and Manchester United have announced a pre-season friendly against rather illustrious opposition.
United will take on Real Madrid at the Michigan Stadium, or the ‘Big House’ in Ann Arbor, USA this August 2nd as part of their pre-season preparations.
The announcement comes 24 hours after rumours were emanating from The States of such a fixture and the stadium is certainly big enough for such an occasion. At a maximum fill-up of 109,901 it is the biggest stadium in the USA.
Automotive partner Chevrolet is sponsoring the event which will form part of the 2014 International Champions Cup.
Managing director Richard Arnold said of the event:
“United’s match against Real Madrid, presented by Chevrolet, promises to be an exciting event for players and fans alike. Playing such strong opposition will be great preparation for David Moyes and his team as we look forward to the 2014/15 season.”
For United fans it will once again be a chance to see Cristiano Ronaldo take on his former team - but for the first time since his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
So while Arsenal fans get excited about meeting their former star Thierry Henry in New Jersey United fans can get as giddy about seeing Ronaldo in action against them once again in August.
