On this day: Sagna replacement wants move, De Gea confident and Torres scores!

On the 4th April 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 4th April 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 4th April 2013…

What a Corchia!

Sochaux right-back Sebastien Corchia opened up the doors to a potential move to the Premier League - in particular Arsenal.

The Gunners were reportedly keen to sign the player as a future successor to contract rebel Bacary Sagna.

The young full-back - who had already seen moves to Lyon and Torino fall through stated:

"For now I am thinking about Sochaux and want to save the club from relegation. “After that my dream is to go to a big club. We will wait and see what happens at the end of the season."

Yet he is still available.

He was supposed to join Lille in January but the deal collapsed because of financial irregularities.

Could Arsenal move in this summer?

Torres in scoring shock!

Chelsea defeated Rubin Kazan in the Uefa Europa League - with Fernando Torres scoring twice!

The Spaniard is now seemingly on his way out of the club as Jose Mourinho has handed down a thinly veiled criticism of his recent displays over the course of the past couple of weeks.

A long way away from this 3-1 victory.

David Happyonthe-field

David De Gea was speaking about his improved performances - suggesting consistency and confidence were the reasons for his rapid improvement.

The Spanish goalkeeper stated:

"I'm feeling well, in good shape and I’m at ease on the pitch. I've played a lot of matches but I get plenty of rest at home and I eat well – it's important to look after myself. I'm more confident and feel I'm playing consistently because I've had a prolonged run in the team.”
