Tottenham latest: King says side haven't gone backwards as he's granted testimonial

A selection of the latest stories surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening

Former defender Ledley King has told TalkSport that he believes Tottenham haven’t gone backwards under Tim Sherwood.

King said it has been a tricky season as Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas in December.

He said: “We’re two points off [our tally] from last season where we got a record number of points. This shows we haven’t gone backwards.

“There have been too many individual errors. That’s been the disappointing factor from the manager’s point of view. These have to be eradicated if you want to do well.”

King was speaking after he had been granted a testimonial which will take place on Monday 12th May at White Hart Lane.

He said: "It will be an extremely emotional evening for me, especially to play again at White Hart Lane in front of our amazing fans and I will savour every moment.”

Tim Sherwood has admitted that the club are interested in signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, after his agent revealed the club was interested in the forward, who is currently on loan at Everton.

Sherwood has also indicated that former boss Glenn Hoddle’s criticism of the side is because he hasn’t got anything else to talk about.

He said: “It’s been a long time since Glenn Hoddle has managed a team and the game has moved on significantly.

“I’ve been a pundit myself and it’s easy to be critical when you’ve got nothing else to talk about.”

With Tottenham looking to build a new stadium on the site of White Hart Lane a range of temporary homes are being considered for a season – including StadiumMK, the home of Milton Keynes Dons.

Other venues they are said to be considering include Wembley Stadium and the Olympic Stadium according to the Independent, and that they could opt for different grounds depending on the opponents for the 2016-17 season.
