10 interesting stats heading into Premier League matchday 33

Chelsea, Everton, Cardiff City, and Manchester City all feature.

0 – Fernando Torres has failed to get a single shot on target in his past three matches, playing a total of 237 minutes and taking 13 shots in these games. This includes the 6-0 thrashing of Arsenal. The Spaniard has failed to score in his last 7 Premier League matches.

3 – Rickie Lambert, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suárez are the only players to have recorded double figures in both goals and assists this season.

5 – Everton have won 5 consecutive games for the first time since 2002. Roberto Martínez’s side are fifth in the league, 4 points behind Arsenal who they host on Sunday. The Toffees only went on such a streak once during David Moyes’ 11 years at Goodison Park, winning six in a row.

8 – Cardiff City ended a sequence of eight successive away defeats with a dramatic stoppage time equaliser in a thrilling 3-3 draw at West Brom last weekend. This was the Bluesbirds’ first point on the road since 4 December at Stoke.

10 – Manchester City have dropped 10 points from winning positions this season. The latest was last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal in which Manuel Pellegrini’s side led at half-time.

13 – More than half of the 24 goals Chelsea have conceded this season have been against bottom 10 opposition. They face 10th place Stoke City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

15 – José Mourinho suffered his 15th Premier League defeat in his 152nd match (equivalent of four full seasons) last weekend as Chelsea went down 1-0 at Tony Pulis’ Crystal Palace. 80% of these defeats have been against British managers. This weekend Chelsea host Stoke City – the Potters beat them earlier season in which saw Mark Hughes become the first manager to beat Mourinho twice in the Portuguese manager’s Premier League career.

20 – There have been 20 changes at the top of the Premier League this season. Last weekend saw Liverpool end the weekend on top following their 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea could replace the Reds, at least temporarily when they play Stoke City on Saturday with Liverpool playing the following day.

24 – Chelsea have conceded 24 goals in 32 games so far this season. The most the Blues conceded in any of the three previous seasons under José Mourinho was also 24 (in 2006-07), meaning this will be their worst defensive performance under the Special One if they do not keep clean sheets in each of their remaining 6 matches.

65 – Everton have 7 games remaining to pick up 6 points that would set a club record for most points in a single season. Currently on 60 points, they are racing down on the total of 65 set in 2007-08. Last season they picked up 63 points.
