Tottenham look at battling Liverpool over ex-West Ham midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a summer move for Valon Behrami.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Swiss international midfielder Valon Behrami.

The 28-year-old has made 28 starts this season for Rafa Benitez' Napoli, and is valued at around £15 million.

The People reported over the weekend that Liverpool are looking at bringing in the central midfielder, and could even do a swap deal involving Pepe Reina.

Yet news via Italy states that Behrami's agent Fali Ramadani has actually been in London this week and held talks with Tottenham, to discuss potential summer options.

Tuttomercato report: "It was first contact, a chat to probe future plans and evaluate possible market dynamics related to the former Fiorentina player who has a contract until 2017 in Napoli."

Inter Milan have also been linked with the midfielder, who is yet to register a goal or assist so far this campaign.

Behrami, who was born in what is now Kosovo, spent three seasons in the Premier League previously with West Ham United between 2008 and 2011.

During this time he scored four goals and provided three assists. In Serie A he has picked up 43 yellow cards in 165 matches, and has a red card at the 2010 World Cup to his name.
