Reina's agent comments on potential Liverpool to Napoli move

Pepe Reina

The goalkeeper’s representative has stated that negotitions over a permanent switch to the Italian club have not yet taken place.

With Liverpool excelling in the Premier League and Simon Mignolet proving himself as a trusty custodian in the Anfield outfit, a return for Jose Reina seems unlikely this summer.

The Spain international stopper has spent this season on loan at Rafa Benitez’s Napoli side, with the Serie A outfit thought to make the Barcelona youth product’s move to San Paolo permanent.

Despite rumblings in the press that discussions have started to try and make the deal happen, Reina’s agent has moved to dispel the rumours.

Manuel Garcia Quilon did admit there was a chance that it could happen, but confirmed that negotiations had not yet started.

“We have not even spoken with Napoli about his future at the club yet,” he told Tutto Napoli.

“I’m not saying this is not going to happen, but as of now at least the talks are not going on.”

Liverpool are likely to try and strengthen their squad this summer and as such a number of fringe players – including Reina – are expected to leave.

With Barcelona’s transfer ban set to impinge on the Catalan club’s activity in the market, Napoli seem like frontrunners for the goalkeeper.
