Reina weighs up Napoli stay

Liverpool-owned goalkeeper Pepe Reina is reportedly weighing up an offer from Napoli to extend his stay at the Stadio San Paolo.

Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina has become a firm favourite at Napoli during his period on loan from Liverpool and he has reportedly been made an offer to stay permanently.

Reina has been a pivotal figure in Rafa Benitez's side and has been fundamental in Napoli establishing themselves in the upper echelons of Italian football.

The 31-year-old has admitted that he is enjoying his time in Naples, but he has always been keen to stress that his long term future depends on Liverpool.

Barcelona are also said to be considering a move for Reina in the summer - a move that he has admitted would be exciting for him.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have opened talks with Liverpool to try and agree a fee for Reina.

Reina is currently allowed to leave if Napoli can table a bid of around £4.3m but the Azzurri are said to be trying to knock that down.

However, Napoli will then still have to convince Reina to accept a contract that is likely to be considerably less lucrative than his current wage packet.

Although other clubs are hovering, Benitez and Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon are said to be hoping that Reina has fallen in love with the Partenopei and will opt to remain.
