Blizzard announce impressive sales for the PC/Mac versions of the RoS expansion.

Some 2.7 million players have taken up the battle against Malthael the angel of death with Blizzard’s new Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls. Allegedly Malthael has now been stopped over 1.5 million times and counting.

This is only for PC and Mac.The RoS expansion is said to be coming to consoles later this year with PS4/Xbox One ports of Diablo III also on the cards,.

It was reported in February that Diablo III has so far sold 15 million units, a figure which includes sales on consoles.

“With Reaper of Souls, we wanted to emphasize all the things that Diablo gamers have always loved about the series, from the dark gothic setting to the piles and piles of epic loot,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re excited to see that players are enjoying the changes we’ve made to the game, and we look forward to achieving our Paragon levels alongside everyone else in the weeks and months ahead.”

Along with the new game content, which takes you on a quest from Westmarch to the unhallowed halls of the Pandemonium Fortress, RoS gives a new level cap of 70, a new Adventure Mode: a game mode that allows players to choose their own path across Sanctuary; Bounties: randomized objectives that award gold and experience; Nephalem Rifts: fast-paced randomized dungeons stacked with epic loots; and the Mystic: a new artisan who provides gear-customization options.

RoS brings the new Crusader class too, essentially a reworking of the Paladin class from Diablo II, where you enact holy retribution with a one man plate armour tank endowed with some nasty area of effect damage. Check out the video below to see what that looks like.

We can’t wait for the expansion to come to consoles, are you a console gamer keen to get your hands on RoS?
