Real Madrid ace: Bale was better at Spurs

Is Bale worth £86 million still

With the Welshman impressing for Real Madrid in recent games, fellow former Tottenham player Luka Modric has promised there is more to come.

With three goals in his last two games, taking his total to 17 for the season and 18 assists in 35 games, it is fair to say that Gareth Bale isn't a man short on form.

But according to teammate Luka Modric, he is a man with even more to offer, leaving Real Madrid fans the world over licking their lips.

The former Tottenham winger scored two against Rayo Vallecano in his last La Liga game and also netted in last night's 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

However, before those two games Real had suffered a blip in the title race, losing the El Clasico at the Bernabeu and then away to Sevilla, leaving the Los Blancos fans critical of superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale and manager Carlo Ancelotti.

And after Bale was jeered by Madrid fans in the match with Rayo, Modric defended the player who he has played with at both Spurs and the Spanish giants, while admitting he can get even better.

'I think he’s doing very well, helping the team and has scored many goals and set up many goals,' the Croatian said of the Real number eleven.

'Maybe he’s not as good as he was at Tottenham but he’s a very important player for us. He’s not very selfish and probably has the most assists.’

Bale scored 26 goals in his final season at Spurs, assisting with 15 and winning PFA Player of the Year and Football Writer's Player of the Year.

He has already played a part in 35 goals for the Madrid club, and has just 6 more to match last year's impressive total.

With just a few games to go for Real, now would be the perfect time for Bale to show off those extra gears.
