Oh how Chelsea could have done with their on loan striker against PSG.
Chelsea lined up without an out and out striker against PSG, with Andre Schurrle up front.
The man they really needed was Romelu Lukaku, the fearless Belgian who has netted 12 Premier League goals on loan at Everton this season.
Lukaku's performances have won him numerous plaudits, and it is no exaggeration to say his talents would have graced the stage against PSG in the Champions League quarter-final last night.
With Chelsea losing ground in the Premier League, the decision to loan him out is looking a costly one, and rumours remain over a potential permanent summer exit, despite the club's glaring need for his ability.
He showed last night that he does care about the club, watching and cheering them on.
Sadly he couldn't be on the pitch for the Blues, instead he was sitting on his couch watching the game on television.
He showed the world just that by posting a photo on his Instagram page, of Eden Hazard on his screen, shortly after netting Chelsea's first half leveller from the spot.
He attached the message: "@hazardeden_10 aller la miff!! #CFCvsPSG"
Lukaku was loaned out on deadline day with Samuel Eto'o brought in, but with the Cameroonian out injured for last night's tie, Jose Mourinho showed just what he thinks of Demba Ba and Fernando Torres by leaving them both on the bench.
There is no question Lukaku would have shaken up the PSG backline and given them plenty more to consider than Andre Schurrle did, and the futility of him sitting at home watching the game on the screen emphasises what a farce the decision to loan him out has turned out to be.
