PICTURE: Will this put Mourinho off of signing £32m target?

Atletico Madrid

Chelsea target Diego Costa picked up a nasty looking injury against Barcelona last night.

Atletico Madrid, and possibly Chelsea, hearts would have sunk last night when key striker Diego Costa was forced off in the Champions League game against Barcelona clutching the back of his leg.

The 25-year-old forward has 25 goals from 30 La Liga games this season and has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, as Jose Mourinho seeks out an attacking option to come into his squad.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone says he’s hopeful that the injury won’t turn out to be too serious, with the forward expected to have a scan today but if it turns out to be a problematic and long term injury, it could change Mourinho’s transfer thinking this summer.

Muscular leg problems are one of the most common injuries that footballers pick up and considering the massive investment it would take to poach Costa away from Atletico Madrid, Mourinho may be put off from a deal if the injury turns out to be long term and a persistent problem.
