Chelsea morning news: Star set for new deal, Blanc admiration for Hazard

Stamford Bridge

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

On loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois looks set to extend his contract with the club.

The Belgian shot stopper has been on loan at Atletico Madrid for the last three seasons with Jose Mourinho keen to tie him down at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mail, Courtois will stay at Atletico for another season once he signs his new contract.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc has revealed his admiration for Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

The Belgian has been strongly linked with a move to the French giants but Blanc refused to be drawn over a potential bid.

“We know Eden Hazard very well in France. I played against him as a coach, and he was always very impressive, one on one, and how fast on his feet. He’s scored goals at Chelsea in England and has the freedom to go everywhere when Chelsea are in a difficult moment,” said Blanc.

Samuel Eto’o misses out as the Blues take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this evening.

Eto’o picked up a hamstring problem during the 6-0 thumping of Arsenal and there were hopes he’d be fit to make the game.

However, Fernando Torres is expected to start up front in the Chelsea attack for the game.
