What a season it has been for Adnan Januzaj.
At the end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure at Manchester United, he gave the Belgian-born starlet a squad-number, and ultimately a place on the bench for his last ever match in charge.
But under David Moyes Januzaj’s progress has gone to a whole other level, with the now-19-year-old thrust into the spotlight when United were in desperate need of something special, and duly providing just that.
Since his glorious goal-scoring arrival against Sunderland, Januzaj has become a vital part of the squad. And even if the signing of Juan Mata in January has allowed Moyes to use the teenager more sparingly, there is no question this season will be remembered as the one in which another Old Trafford star was born.
And now Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has published its list of the top 60 teenagers in world football, and Januzaj is top of the pile.
He is joined on the list by players from Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among others. But it is a testament to his progress that he has been named the best of the lot.
