There are plenty of talking points for fans this morning with Manchester United about to take on Bayern Munich in the last eight of the Champions League, with Chelsea playing PSG in Paris tomorrow night.
Liverpool sit pretty at the top of the Premier League while West Ham secured a vital win against Sunderland, which improves their chances of staying in English football’s top flight.
What were the stories that had people talking on this day last year?
‘Ronaldo and Mourinho to Chelsea’
It was around this time last year that the rumours of Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge really started to gather pace.
The Portuguese coach was publicly unhappy at Real Madrid and the Express raised the suggestion that Ronaldo could follow him in leaving the Bernabeu.
However, a move never came about with the former Manchester United striker signing a new contract to stay with Los Blancos following the summer arrival of Gareth Bale.
‘Nasri on Arsenal departure’
Former Gunner Samir Nasri claimed that Arsenal sold him to Manchester City because Stan Kroenke wanted the cash.
The French midfielder was one of Arsenal’s best players before he left the club in a deal worth a reported £25 million.
“Cesc or me were supposed to leave. Arsene told me that if Cesc would leave, I would stay. But Kroenke wanted the money,” Nasri told the Mirror.
‘Lewandowski tipped to shun United interest’
Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski was tipped to shun a move away from the club by goalkeeper RomanWeidenfeller.
The Polish front man was heavily linked with numerous moves away from BVB with United’s long term interest in him well known.
He ultimately decided that he would be joining Bayern Munich at the end of this season.
