Chelsea, City linked Brazil superstar 'complimented' by interest but…

Two UEFA Cups, two Champions League titles and 72 international caps makes for an accomplished player who Chelsea and Manchester City both want.

Manchester City, Chelsea and, to a lesser extent, Arsenal, have all been linked with an accomplished star of modern football.

A man who, at 30-years-old, has won virtually every club-level title there is going - league crowns, domestic cups and both elite-level European titles and a player who has, for the last six seasons, represented one of the consensus most aesthetically-pleasing clubs in the modern age and a man whose contract expires in June, 2015.

Speculation therefore has been rife that this player, none other than rampaging right back Daniel Alves, may assess any available option when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

For virtually all clubs, Alves would represent a step-up in quality on whomever their first choice right back is.

In 1,845 minutes of La Liga football with Barcelona thus far this season, Alves has averaged 3.1 tackles per game, 1.9 interceptions and 1.1 clearances. He also returns a handsome 87.5% passing accuracy, attempts 68 passes per game, has produced 28 clear chances for his team-mates and is successful with roughly 25% of his cross attempts.

And, despite interest from the Premier League elite, Alves appears unfazed about the rumours and will not be joining Manchester City, Chelsea, nor Arsenal in summer.

"We've been talking about my future at the club since the year I arrived," he is quoted by Le 10 Sport to have said. "It's a compliment that some big teams are interested in me, that means I'm doing my job."

However, while flattered, Alves effectively states that while his contentment with life at Camp Nou continues, so will his employment with the Catalan outfit.

"The truth is that I am here. I think for a story to work, both parties must agree, otherwise, it separates. At present, I know that both parties [himself and Barcelona] are satisfied."
