Barcelona midfielder Xavi has heaped praise on Spanish international teammate Koke.
Barcelona midfielder Xavi and Atletico Madrid’s Koke were invited to do a face-to-face interview for the official Barcelona website ahead of their all-Spanish quarter-final Champions League tie.
Koke, 22, has been in phenomenal form for the current league leaders this season. In 26 La Liga starts, the playmaker has scored six goals and assisted a further 12 – tying in first place in La Liga alongside Gareth Bale and Cesc Fabregas for assists.
His displays haven’t gone unnoticed, and a number of Europe’s leading clubs have reportedly sent scouts to watch the star in action, with Manchester United being one of them.
The only snag for David Moyes’ men is Koke’s reported €60m release clause, though if the United boss wants to buy the world’s best players and solve his midfield problem, he must be expected to pay a premium.
Despite Barcelona being named favourites heading into Tuesday’s clash at the Nou Camp, Xavi Hernandez knows of the Rojiblanco’s incredible workmanlike abilities and labelled his successor in the Spanish squad as extraordinary.
He said: “Koke is an extraordinary footballer.”
“He has everything, he has talent, physical condition and he is a footballer of the present and the future.”
“He is practically in the Spanish squad now and he will be there for the next 10 years. He has a special supplement, we play practically in the same position and for me he is just extraordinary.”
Should Manchester United make an offer for Koke in the summer?
