The transfer bin is getting pretty full this week. In fact, it seems to be overflowing after a few days of rumours focusing almost primarily on Manchester United.
First there was the suggestion that David Moyes would sanction the sale of Nick Powell for just £5million. Then Shinji Kagawa was tipped for a loan move this summer before United were linked with a swoop for Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon.
But now, as we force those rumours down to make a little more room for new ones, we have another to add to the pile…and it is a big one.
The Daily Mail reports that Bayern Munich are keen on United starlet Adnan Januzaj as they consider long-term replacements for Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
With both players now in their 30s, the paper claims Pep Guardiola’s side is looking far and wide for the men who can one day replace them.
The report does conclude by stating that no bid has yet been made and that United would not entertain an offer. But with the reigning European champions set to kick-off at Old Trafford tomorrow evening, we cannot help but think this is more a case of a cannily-timed rumour than something that will send shockwaves through Manchester in the near-future.
With a contract until 2018, and considering his progress at United so far, Januzaj is going nowhere…even if reports to the contrary could continue for some time to come.
