United and Chelsea reportedly monitoring David Luiz lookalike

15-year-old Belgian defender Wout Faes was reportedly watched by scouts from Manchester United and Chelsea last week as he represented Belgium Under-17's.

Wout Faes is a product of the Anderlecht youth system, which of course produced a great defender in Manchester City's current captain, Vincent Kompany.

Anderlecht have developed quite a reputation for producing talented young individuals. Unfortunately for them they are often prised away by bigger clubs and who can blame them? The Belgian league is not exactly the most attractive in Europe. Therefore they are unlikely to keep hold of Faes for too long with interest already high for the 15-year-old.

Manchester United and Chelsea have conducted business with Anderlecht plenty of times before. Romelu Lukaku joined Chelsea from the current Belgian champions for a fee that could potentially rise to £17million. Chelsea also have another three former Anderlecht players on their books. In 2012 they signed the three Musonda brothers from the club.

United signed Adnan Januzaj from Anderlecht in 2012 so both English sides have good links with the club.

Wout Faes was watched by scouts from both club's as he played for Belgium's Under-17 side in the recent European Under-17 Championships in Scotland. Faes is a ball-playing centre-back and his wild hairstyle has seen him draw comparisons with David Luiz's looks.

The Daily Mail reports that Anderlecht would hold out for £2million compensation if United or Chelsea wanted to make a move for him in the near future.

Both clubs have defenders who are coming towards the end of their careers. It is time for a new generation to come through and although only 15, he has time to develop at either club.

Chelsea and United may look to purchase a centre-back capable of going straight into the first-team in the summer, but they both have a good reputation for developing youth players and giving them a chance.

Chelsea may hold the advantage due to United's failings this season. It could be a while before they are back in the Champions League and challenging for the title once again.
