Sunday rumour mill: United want former Chelsea boss to replace Moyes

The Daily Star indicate that Carlo Ancelotti is on the Old Trafford club’s wishlist.

David Moyes is under increasing pressure at Manchester United, with the verdict out on whether the Scot will be in the Old Trafford hotseat next season.

With the reigning Premier League champions having to win this season’s Champions League to salvage their season and qualify for Europe’s main tournament again next season, the former Everton boss’ future is hanging in the balance.

A host of names including Jurgen Klopp, Diego Simeone and Louis van Gaal have been named as potential replacements for Moyes, but another renowned manager is being touted in the Sunday press.

The Daily Star have stated that United are keeping tabs on Carlo Ancelotti’s situation at Real Madrid, with the powers that be at the Manchester club interested in attracting the Italian back to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea manager is under duress at the Santiago Bernabeu, with little room for error in the Spanish capital city side’s efforts to win silverware this term.

The report states that should Moyes be shown the door this summer, Ancelotti is the man that United want to take over.
