'First of many' - De Gea congratulates Mata on United strike

We take a look at some of the social media reaction to Juan Mata's strike yesterday.

Manchester United have defeated Aston Villa in the Premier League - a 4-1 victory at Old Trafford yesterday.

The result could have been different but for a woeful display from Villa striker Christian Benteke - however the game will be best remembered for the goal of Juan Mata.

The Spaniard was snapped up in January for a whopping fee of £37 million from Chelsea - and has been waiting to score his first goal for the club ever since.

But he managed to catch a lucky break from a sloppy piece of play in the Villa Box, shifting the ball on to his right foot before smashing the ball beyond Brad Guzan in the Villa goal.

It is his first goal in his tenth game for the club and you could see how much it meant to him to smash home the goal.

And his fellow players were clearly very pleased that their record signing bagged his first goal for the club. The likes of Phil Jones and David De Gea both took to Twitter to congratulate their team-mate on his first goal for the club yesterday evening:

And Mata was at it as well.

He posted this pic of his goal celebration after the game - thanking the fans for their support in the process.

I will always remember this day! Thanks for your support!

United fans will hope De Gea is right and this marks the first of many strikes in a United shirt for the Spaniard.
