Arsenal morning news: Wenger praise for 'surprise' Flamini; Drmic set to sign?

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

After drawing 1-1 with Manchester City yesterday Arsene Wenger was pleased with the performance of his players.

Speaking post-game he stated:

“We will fight until the end. This team has qualities, it is has quality on the pitch and quality in attitude as well and it will do that until the end.”

He also spoke about game saver Mathieu Flamini - stating:

“I like Flamini because I signed him at the surprise of everybody and I think he has done extremely well. He gives us the balance and qualities that are needed in the team. But overall we have played some good games with him and some good games without him.”

Goalscorer Flamini has also spoken of his feelings after the game:

"It was important for every single player in this team because it was difficult after what happened at Chelsea. We wanted to find a victory but it was important to find something from the game. We wanted to win of course but we tried until the last minute and we were unlucky. Now we have to rest and focus on the next game. It's very difficult now but we have to take it game by game."

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Nuremburg striker Josip Drmic.

The Swiss international has been linked with the club over the past couple of weeks - and according to Sky Germany pair Lothar Matthaus and Jan Age Fjortoft the deal is close to done.

Apparently his wife has been looking for apartments in London recently.

Patrick Vieira is reportedly being considered as the long-term replacement for Arsene Wenger at The Emirates.

Wenger’s future at the club could be in doubt should they finish outside of the top four or do not win the FA Cup this season.

Vieira, currently technical director at Manchester City, could take over should Wenger leave - amid rumours he could take over the French national team job from Didier Deschamps.
