Arsenal legend: I love Tim Sherwood

Tim Sherwood Press Conference Smiling 12/02/2014

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he is upset for Tim Sherwood at his lack of success at Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal striking hero Ian Wright says he genuinely wants Tim Sherwood to do well at Tottenham, but may just be the only man in North London who does.

The former record goalscorer told BBC 5 Live's 606 after Tottenham's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool that he wishes results were working out better for the manager.

"I love Tim, I want him to do well, it's just not working out that way.

"I thought that (the spirit) would have been one of things Tim would have brought, it wasn't there today."

Tottenham's 4-0 defeat at Anfield to Liverpool was sadly for fans of the away side entirely predictable given the form of the two teams in recent weeks.

After Spurs' loss to Chelsea by the same scoreline, Sherwood took an angry stance and demanded passion from his players, but as Wright pointed out, an improvement was not evident against Liverpool.

Sherwood's troubled time in charge in recent weeks has seen Spurs effectively fall off the map when it comes to Champions League qualification for next season, with Everton now the only team who can realistically usurp Arsenal for the fourth placed spot.

Many Arsenal fans may also find themselves declaring their admiration for Sherwood, but unlike Wright it won't be because they want him to do well, instead that they are delighted with the poor job he is currently doing in charge of their rivals.
