A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United kick off this weekend’s Premier League action at Old Trafford this lunchtime, fresh off the back of consecutive 3-0 home league defeats.
While their away form has been very impressive, it just has not gone according to plan at the Theatre of Dreams and David Moyes will be hoping to give the home fans something to cheer this afternoon.
In early team news, the BBC reports that Nemanja Vidic is available having served his suspension, while doubts remain over the inclusion of both Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling.
Long-term absentee Robin van Persie is still out for the hosts, while Villa Karim El Ahmadi is said to be struggling with a thigh strain.
In other news, Moyes has said that his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson would have struggled this season if he had still be in charge of the club.
In quotes published by the BBC, Moyes said, “If Sir Alex was here it would be difficult for him as well.
“It could have been the case no matter what this season. But it has been so un-Man United, which is why we have to look to continue a policy of building, improving, getting better.”
And he will hope that starts this afternoon…
The player would be an excellent addition to United’s squad, but despite his future being unknown, it seems Barca may offer very stiff competition for his services should he move on this summer.
