United fans react to Kagawa performance: 'Shinji magic, Cleverley tragic'

Manchester United beat Aston Villa 4-1 on Saturday, with Shinji Kagawa impressing, but what did the fans think?

Shinji Kagawa is something of an enigma for Manchester United fans.

Those who saw him play regularly for his former club Borussia Dortmund know just what he is capable of, as his numerous goals and assists in the Bundesliga proved.  But since his arrival at Old Trafford, he has shown only in sporadic glimpses the footballing nous that helped Jurgen Klopp's men to considerable success.

The thing with Kagawa is that a section of United fans regularly call for his inclusion, but when he has played, he has not always performed even close to his best.  But that cannot be said of his latest outing, when he helped United to a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Japanese international provided one assist and made 23 accurate passes, but his all-round play and understanding with Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata suggested the fans may be seeing a lot more of this trio in tandem between now and the end of the season.

It is only a shame that David Moyes cannot call on Mata for the upcoming Champions League matches against Bayern Munich.  But with Kagawa leaving the field 22 minutes before the end, could he be set for a start against the reigning European champions and a side he has an outstanding record against?

Those who love the Japanese international will certainly hope so, but for now we will focus on what the fans made of his showing against the Villans.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what the fans thought, and below is a selection of what we found.
