PICTURE: Terry reacts despairingly to scoring own goal at Palace

John Terry scored an own goal this afternoon to leave Chelsea's title hopes in the balance.

What does this picture tell us about the title-race?

John Terry kneels, head in hands, despairing at turning a dangerous cross into his own net after 52 minutes.

Chelsea have lost 1-0 to relegation threatened Crystal Palace this afternoon.

Just as the title race begins to take shape another fly makes its way into the ointment. It was easy to forget that a couple of weeks ago Chelsea had lost to Aston Villa away from home 1-0.

The 6-0 win against Arsenal seemed to forgive that result - but they had the difficult task of trying to overcome a resolute Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park.

And in front of a magnificent crowd The Eagles dominated - and rightfully they came away with a 1-0 win from the tie.

Chelsea’s title hopes have once again been blown out of the water - and the culprit was their captain fantastic.

John Terry headed the ball beyond Petr Cech in his own goal to send the Palace fans glad all over - and a dejected Jose Mourinho’s continued self-depreciation of his team is looking more and more prophetic week after week.

Manchester City take on Arsenal this evening while Liverpool play Tottenham on Sunday.

Good results for both and Chelsea are on the ropes.
