Manchester United needed a big performance today, and they got it.
The Red Devils were thrashed by Manchester City on Tuesday night - and that result left a group of United fans very unhappy with the continued poor performances under new boss David Moyes.
And to highlight their unhappiness one group of fans decided to charter a plane to fly over Old Trafford during the game with Aston Villa this evening - carrying the message ‘Moyes Out - The Wrong One’.
United were not affected - winning 4-1 against Villa - but one former United legend was furiously unhappy that such a stunt was even going ahead in the first place.
Gary Neville was on Twitter in the morning - before the game - letting his feelings well known on the subject.
Manchester United fans have been classy all season in support of the team/manager when it's been poor. This stunt let's all our fans down!— Gary Neville (@GNev2) March 29, 2014
In protest at the protest every united fan should sing DM name or boo for the entire stunt!!!— Gary Neville (@GNev2) March 29, 2014
He felt it was a classless act - and that the majority of United fans would be against the move.
That certainly seemed to be the case at the stadium.
Moyes came out to a standing ovation at Old Trafford and the flyover was roundly booed by the club’s fans - showing that the majority of United fans are continuing to give their new boss plenty of time to get things right at the club.
Something which is likely to please Gary Neville.
