Manchester City's tricky trip to the Emirates Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw, as both sides fought hard in a close encounter.
Having watched Chelsea lose 1-0 at Crystal Palace today, Manchester City had the chance to go top of the Premier League table on goal difference, but faced a tough challenge against fellow top four side Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium - and City will feel that they missed their chance.
Manuel Pellegrini's side came out of the traps flying, and David Silva's goal gave City a first half lead and in truth, it could and maybe should have been more. They were left to rue their missed chances as Mathieu Flamini drew the Gunners level shortly after half time, and that's the way it stayed as neither side could find a winner.
The draw leaves City in third place, and with Liverpool facing Tottenham tomorrow, Brendan Rodgers' side have the chance to take the lead at the top of the table - though City's two games in hand on Liverpool and Chelsea are still vitally important to the title picture.
City fans were understandably disappointed that their side couldn't hang on for a win in North London, but the majority acknowledged that the destiny of the title still lies in their hands - though some called for Alvaro Negredo to play instead of Edin Dzeko, who endured a frustrating night.
Might have brought negredo on earlier and took silva off as he looked knackered after an hour, all in all a decent point #mcfc— Pete Hulme (@thegoat10) March 29, 2014
4 points from Arsenal and United away is what was minimum needed, that's achieved so bring on Saints next week #mcfc— Jason Sidlow (@jasesidlow17) March 29, 2014
Not a bad point at arsenal, still 2 games In hand should takes back to the top. #MCFC— Gareth Newell (@Garfield_1692) March 29, 2014
We've just got to focus on Southampton now. Won't be easy, but it's a lunchtime game. Get the win & pressure is on Chelsea/Liverpool. #MCFC— Adam Perkins (@Adam_Perkins3) March 29, 2014
Decent point. Could have put ourselves in an even better position but it's still in our hands #mcfc— James Wilson (@JamesGW144) March 29, 2014
There will be more twists and turns yet, guys. No game is a guaranteed three points, one game at a time - we can still win it. #mcfc— Ryan Corless (@RCorless33) March 29, 2014
Feels like a massive point that. Our worst away game out of the way. Never play well there #MCFC— Boyley1972 (@karboy2) March 29, 2014
Dzeko was back to being Dzeko today after playing amazing in the derby. Negredo should have been on waaay earlier #MCFC— MCFC95 (@Tom95k) March 29, 2014
Happy with a point today, felt arsenal were there for the taking and maybe bringing Negredo on earlier could have killed them off! #mcfc— Liam Keighley (@LiamKeighley) March 29, 2014
Another fantastic performance from David Silva. One point is better than no point. Come on . #MCFC— Mony ® (@BlueMonny) March 29, 2014
Could complain we didn't win. But we didn't lose. Gained a point, Agüero to return, 2 games in hand. In our hands still! #MCFC— Shєrlσck Hαят (@MartyMCFC) March 29, 2014
But we should have beaten that weak Arsenal side with so many injuries. That game against Liverpool will be so huge... #mcfc— Arttu Hakala-Ranta (@arttuhr) March 29, 2014
