A select round-up of news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan is having a season to remember, and he has told the club’s official website just how he is feeling as the Reds attempt to claim the Premier League title in a few short weeks.

It’s a dream come true for me just to keep playing and keep being in and around the Liverpool first-team,” the young full-back said. “Now I’m back in the team and the team is up there challenging, it doesn’t get any better.”

Well it just might, if Brendan Rodgers’ side can beat Chelsea and Manchester City to a league title that has eluded the Merseyside club for so long.

On the fans’ reception to him, Flanagan said, “I’m on top of the world. When you hear the fans chanting your name, it doesn’t get any better than that, and to be part of this side, who are going places I think, is massive for me.”

One thing is for certain – Flanagan is destined to become one of the very best defenders in the game.

In other news, while many feel it is nailed on for Luis Suarez to be crowned Player of the Year, City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes Yaya Toure has what it takes to pip the Uruguayan to the prize.

In quotes published by Goal, Pellegrini said, “Hopefully we can win the title and then he can be the best player.

“He has a chance to be there with the best players in the world.”
