Away from home Manchester United are very impressive indeed. But when it comes to playing at Old Trafford they look a shadow of their former selves.
After back-to-back 3-0 league defeats at the Theatre of Dreams, United know they have to turn things around, and fast. Winning away on a regular basis is fantastic, but the longer this Jekyll and Hyde routine goes on, the more pressure there will be on the players and on David Moyes.
Last time these two sides met at Old Trafford, United sealed the Premier League title after a glorious finish from Robin van Persie. But just 12 months later the Dutchman is injured and his club’s campaign continues to falter.
Villa have won just one of their last 34 league and cup matches against today’s opponents, but that poor record should not render a shock impossible. After all, a number of clubs have already exorcised ghosts at United’s ground this season and Paul Lambert’s side will be hoping to be the next.
What do you think the result will be today?
