Arsenal morning news: Jorginho 'talks held' and Silva fit to take on Gunners

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho. The talented maestro was linked with the Gunners as well as Chelsea and Liverpool before making a move to Naples from Verona in January.

Jorginho only signed for Rafa Benitez’s side a couple of months ago - but Premier League clubs still feel they can get a piece of the action this summer.

The 22-year-old cost Napoli an undisclosed fee and signed a deal until June 2018 in January.

Arsenal have no major injury boosts ahead of the game with Manchester City this evening - but their opponents appear to have got one.

Sergio Aguero has been definitely ruled out of action - while it was reported yesterday that David Silva was also a doubt for the fixture.

However it was reported late last night that the Spanish international - who recently shone against Manchester United - is not out of the game.

Manuel Pellegrini even confirmed the news himself.

“Yes Silva is okay, he is in the squad list.”

Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal have lost their power to intimidate their rivals.

He said in his Daily Mail column:

“Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Sol Campbell, even Robert Pires and Dennis Bergkamp; they were all well over 6ft and had the build to match. They had speed and strength and their style was silky smooth but, above all, they had the ability to intimidate.”

Arsenal’s under-21s lost to their North London rivals Spurs last night after goals from Souleymane Coulibaly and Harry Winks.

Isaac Hayden was also sent off in a disappointing night for the Young Gunners.
